Charity Work

Paul Ponsonby Limited actively supports the following charities. As a small close knit team these causes are very close to our hearts.

Marie Curie Cancer Care

Cancer is a disease which affects so many people and when it becomes terminal the care that Marie Curie offer’s is second to none. Linda Wildman, Director, recently lost her mother to lung cancer and she was cared for by the nurses at Marie Curie Solihull. Both Linda and the company support Marie Curie by donations & volunteering.

Joanne Dolan (Sales and Marketing) trekked the Sahara Desert for Marie Curie Solihull to support their big build appeal. It was a gruelling 7 days, however her team raised over £80,000.00!

They are best known for their network of 2,000 Marie Curie Nurses, who work in the homes of terminally ill patients across the UK, providing practical care and support. During 2012-13, their nurses provided more than 1.3 million hours of nursing to 30,080 patients, along with support for their families. Their nine Marie Curie Hospices across the UK provide expert care and the best quality of life for people with terminal illnesses. They are the biggest provider of hospice beds outside the NHS, and they are expanding outpatient and day services at all their hospices. Their hospices reached 7,897 people in 2012-13. There are Marie Curie Hospices in Belfast, Bradford, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Hampstead (London), Liverpool, Newcastle, Penarth (near Cardiff) and Solihull.

Age UK Solihull

The team at Paul Ponsonby has elderly parents/grandparents and we feel very passionate about making sure that they and others are well looked after. An active supporter of Age UK Solihull Joanne does weekly volunteer work for the cause. She visits a lady every week for an hour just to have a cup of tea and provide some company.

Age UK is the country's largest charity dedicated to helping everyone make the most of later life. The over-60s are the fastest-growing group in society and there are more of us than ever before. Ageing is not an illness, but it can be challenging and, at Age UK, we provide services and support at a national and local level to inspire, enable and support older people in whatever way they require. We stand up and speak for the millions who have reached later life, and also protect the long-term interests of future generations.Together, we can create a world where everyone can love later life.

Troop Aid

Paul Ponsonby got to know Troop Aid through family friends and thought it was a very worth while cause and wanted to get involved. We donate on a regular basis, attend charity balls and provide greeting cards for the grab bags.

Supporting our injured troops

TROOP AID was founded in November 2006 by three ex servicemen as a result of a visit to Selly Oak Hospital’s Alexandra Wing in Birmingham. This is the home of the Defence Medical Welfare Services who are responsible for the welfare of all Armed Forces Personnel, male and female who have been injured during the conflict in Afghanistan and elsewhere.

TROOP AID understands that everyone who joins the Armed Forces may one day go to war and fight for their country. At the Queen Elizabeth Hospital injured servicemen and women receive the very best medical care.

When injured troops return to the United Kingdom from the war zones they arrive back without their personal effects or clothing. The objective of TROOP AID is to support them by providing the basic essentials in our GRAB BAGS.

Our funds come entirely from fund raising events and donations from organisations such as Rotary International, Lions International, Masonic Lodges, Round Table, Primary and Secondary Schools, ex Service Associations, the local business community, the general public and several British expatriate communities overseas. We will continue to help our troops returning from conflicts for as long as necessary. TROOP AID speakers are happy to visit any groups and organisations to talk about the work they do.

Cancer Research UK

Joanne and Linda took part in the Race for Life in 2013 and between them they raised over £1,300.00.'It was a very emotional day and we pushed ourselves to run for as much as we could. Finishing the race was a wonderful feeling and with so many women of all ages, shapes & backgrounds crossing the line together it really felt like the fight against cancer was on!'

British Heart Foundation

A keen cyclist, Paul Ponsonby takes part in an annual bike ride in the Cotswolds for The British Heart Foundation Charity. He has taken part in this event for over 10 years and will continue to do so to support the charity.

The charity fund research into the prevention, care and treatment of heart disease. They are aiming to spend £50 million over the next decade to help their scientists learn to mend broken hearts affected by heart failure caused by a heart attack.

Testimonials

May I say first of all that your guys were brilliant at Ipswich – everything went smooth as silk and the service was entirely professional. It is such a comfort to know that there is a good supporting team. Thanks so very much.

- Government Agency

A big “Thank you” from me for all your efforts last week at the Cheltenham BAOD.  As always nothing was too much trouble and it was a pleasure working with you.

- Government Agency

A quick note to pass on my appreciation of the work done by Tony and Matthew at this event yesterday; it was all done very efficiently and without fuss.  Also, as some of the equipment provided by the Hotel was not as promised, they had to improvise in order to meet our requirements and the need for customer confidentiality. This was achieved successfully without any inconvenience to anyone.

- Government Agency

Both HP personnel on Site and Royal Bank staff were very impressed by the extremely efficient and professional service they provided, we all thought they were the best Transport Company that HP have ever used and we would be delighted if they were used for all future deliveries

I would like to take this opportunity to thank your company for the excellent service that you provided when you delivered a shipment from HP hardware to us last Friday.

In particular, my colleagues and I noticed how professional and helpful Vijay and Matt were in assisting us with the move of the hardware to our Computer Room, something we would never achieve without their help.

- Police Force

Thank you very much for the POD and also for the great job that you did at both the collection & delivery points. The Client made a special point of mailing us yesterday to say how impressed they were with the job as a whole.

A quick message to say thank you for the excellent job done by your company delivering our machines to Southampton.
